African Pride Hotels Irvine Partners PR

The classically elegant and luxurious Arabella Hotel & Spa has joined Africa’s largest and leading luxury hospitality brand African Pride Hotels and has just become the most affordable Top 5 golf course in the country.

The Arabella Hotel & Spa is one only a handful of 5-star resorts in South Africa where golfers can literally roll out of their rooms onto a Top 5 golf course. The clubhouse is part of the hotel, and the 1st tee box is barely 50metres away. The hotel itself delivers grandeur in design and style that pays homage to the rare beauty that surrounds it. Luminous colours and soaring wooden beam ceilings welcome GUESTS while attentive and gracious service enhances the experience of complete comfort.

The hotel and spa are embraced by the majestic Kogelberg Mountains and bordered by the vast Bot River Lagoon. The 18 hole, Par 72 Peter Matkovich Championship Arabella Golf Course has earned respect from the world’s finest golfers and has consistently been ranked as one of the top 5 courses in South Africa. The 8th hole has been described as one of the most beautiful par 5’s in South Africa, and the 18th has been rated one of the finest finishing holes in the country. It is a unique course set on the banks of the lagoon and fringed by indigenous wild flowers.

GUESTS of the Arabella Hotel & Spa will now pay just R500 for a round of golf in high season. The Arabella Golf Club’s current winter rates until October 28 areR350 for 18 holes, excluding Saturdays. Nine holes cost R250 per person, or play 18 holes from 12 noon for the same price. This is coupled with a special accommodation rate at the 5-star hotel that starts at R922 per person sharing, bed and breakfast.

The Arabella Golf Course was featured in Golf Digest’s USA’s Top 60 courses outside of America in 2007. The course is complemented by a luxurious clubhouse with bar and halfway house, as well as a fully stocked pro shop and excellent practice facilities. Resident professional Alison Sheard was recently inducted into the South African Golf Hall of Fame. She is a 9-times SA Open Ladies Champion and also won the Ladies British Open.

The Arabella Golf Course was built in 1999. Since then, many professionals and celebrities have enjoyed the Arabella Golf experience, including Jack Nicklaus, Samuel L. Jackson, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Ronan Keating, Lee Westwood, Tim Clark and Gary Player.

The Western Cape is regarded as one of the most desirable incentive destinations in Africa, with its spectacular array of attractions and activities. With its enormous international appeal, golf incentive travel is an increasingly popular reward for top performers and with its superb golfing facilities and close proximity to Cape Town, the Arabella Hotel & Spa’s championship course and world-class facilities is a natural and discerning destination for golf incentive travel.

The Hospitality Property Fund, which owns the hotel and golf course, has appointed the Protea Hospitality Group to manage and market the property under the superior deluxe African Pride Hotels brand.

Arthur Gillis, CEO of the Protea Hospitality Group, said: “We are naturally delighted to welcome this internationally acclaimed hotel to the African Pride Hotels stable. The combination of the highest standards of service, accommodation and luxury in the African Pride Hotels brand, together with the property’s elegant design and pristine natural setting, makes for a potent and market beating offering.”

Hospitality Property Fund Deputy CEO Andrew Rogers said the decision to award the management contract to African Pride Hotels was logical given the aligned synergies: “We believe this partnership with African Pride Hotels is the correct decision both from a business and a service level. The Arabella Hotel & Spa is one of South Africa’s most exclusive hotels and African Pride Hotels is the first word in authentic luxury African hospitality.”

The Arabella Hotel & Spa is situated just over an hour's drive from Cape Town. It is near the southernmost tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas, and on the outskirts from South Africa’s whale-watching capital, Hermanus. Southern Right whales spend approximately six months of the year on the southern African coast (May to November) and Hermanus is arguably the world’s best land-based whale watching location. The area is also famous for Great White Shark cage diving, and for its pristine fynbos in the Koegelberg Biosphere Reserve. South Africa’s celebrated Winelands region is less than an hour’s drive from the hotel and some of the world’s best wines are on offer at estate prices.

The hotel has a first-class conference centre that can accommodate up to 400 people cinema style. For those wanting more a more sedate pastime, the Arabella Spa is a glorious retreat that captures the essence of luxury, privacy and rejuvenation. The addition of Arabella Hotel & Spa brings to 18 in three countries, the number of superior deluxe hotels, lodges and country houses falling under the banner of African Pride Hotels.
