Protea Hotels Zambia is about to embark on construction of its eighth hotel; this one opposite the newly built sports stadium on the outskirts of Ndola that officially opens next month.
The new hotel, appropriately named the Protea Hotel Ndola, will have 80 bedrooms comprising 60 double bed deluxe rooms and 20 twin bed deluxe rooms. All rooms will have extra-length beds, satellite TV, air-conditioning, a telephone, electronic safes and free Wi-Fi access. The hotel will also have a restaurant, bar and a swimming pool.
The new property will have three conference rooms offering a superior environment for conferences, seminars, workshops, corporate functions, cocktail parties and product launches. The three conference rooms can also be combined for larger conferences of up to 400 people.
Protea Hotels Zambia Chairman Mark O’Donnell said they were eager to break ground and get going with the new hotel. “In little more than a decade Protea Hotels Zambia has grown to seven hotels, with this 8th one in the offing. It is immensely exciting to see the company grow so rapidly and to be able to make such a substantial contribution to the growth of tourism and business travel facilities in Zambia,” he said.
Protea Hospitality Group Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, said despite the dire global economic predictions those companies that had extensive local knowledge, management expertise and sound financial policies – such as Protea Hotels – would continue to grow. “We welcome the addition of Protea Hotel Ndolo to the group and look forward to further expansion in the region.” Bryer said.
