Second Phase Of Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate Opens October 1

The second and largest phase of the Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate in Cape Town’s northern suburbs is set to open on October 1.

The second phase comprises 64 apartments; 32 one bedroom units and 32 two bedroom units. This phase completes the hotel and brings the total number of rooms to 125 in 93 units.

The new hotel in Tyger Valley, surrounded by the vineyards of the D’Aria Wine Estate, is the ultimate no-fuss executive stay and conferencing venue. It opened its doors in June 2011.

The Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate’s location lends itself to decor that blends harmoniously with its vineyard surrounds. The tasteful and spacious reception area is reminiscent of a stone-clad wine cellar, with a comfortable seating area around the showpiece fireplace.


Venturing upstairs on the sloping property, GUESTS find themselves in the Great Room that doubles as a vibey, comfortable lounge with intimate seating areas and a bar that services the lounge and the extensive courtyard terrace that surrounds the swimming pool.

The terrace is equipped with a pizza oven and designer pizzas are the hotel’s signature speciality.

All Apartments include air-conditioning, tea/coffee facilities, flat-screen televisions, telephones, electronic safes, kitchens with fridge, stove, cutlery and crockery and a lounge.

The one bedroom units offer a king-size, extra-length bed with an en suite double shower, while the loft-style two bedroom units have two en suite bathrooms and one room equipped with a queen-size bed, while the second contains two twin beds.

Hotel owner Guy Stehlik said the apartments were ideal for long stay GUESTS, families and corporates/groups sharing.


“The launch of the apartments couldn’t have come at a better time, because in the three months since we opened our doors, the conferencing side of the hotel has taken off at a fantastic rate.

“Our six conference venues are constantly in use and the organisations that have held meetings with us love the team-building events we arrange such as pizza-making and wine/chocolate tastings,” Stehlik said.

“With summer around the corner we’re arranging other team-building and group activities such as art classes, picnics and tractor rides through the vineyards.

“The hotel terrace area is expected to be a hive of activity in the summer. We will be looking at offering live entertainment and some children’s activities as well. There has already been demand for private evening functions on the terrace.

Protea Hotels director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, said the hotel serviced a need in Cape Town’s northern suburbs where large corporates were located which require hotels that are able to cater for both their individual and group and conference needs, and this is where Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate is perfectly positioned.

“The launch of this new phase is going boost business for the hotel and the area; as it now has sufficient accommodation to meet the demands of larger conference groups.”

The hotel also offers unlimited complimentary wi-fi, parking and complimentary shuttles in a 5km radius.
