Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge’s Stonebreakers Restaurant is undergoing a complete transformation that will see the seating capacity grow with a sleek redesign more in keeping with the recently refurbished hotel’s elegant new decor.
The entire restaurant space is being opened up. The hot buffet area remains, but the cold buffet area is moving to become an island that will vastly improve the flow of the space.
The new restaurant will be completed at the end of January.
General Manager Colin Naiker says the changes to the restaurant will be quite dramatic and GUESTS can expect a completely new feel incorporating an eclectic mix of lighting, textures, colours and of course the existing magnificent views of Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront and the famous Cape Town Harbour.
“The contemporary new restaurant will boast a completely refrigerated cold buffet area, a fully equipped hot buffet area, a full service bar and a barista area as well as indoor and outdoor seating for 160 people.
”The space is being entirely redecorated with a much softer feel with natural timber around all the columns, new cool-toned wall paper, curtains, ornate lighting and natural colour tones,” says Naiker.
“We’ve served our last breakfast for the year at Stonebreakers, and until the end of January the hotel restaurant effectively moves into the Exhibition Hall in B-Block on the second floor. The Time Out Café will be trading as usual during this time with the doors opening daily from 11am to 10pm.”
The hotel also plans to introduce a small a la carte dinner menu during the course of next year.
Protea Hospitality Group Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, says there will be minimal disturbance to GUESTS during the renovation, with work taking place during the day.
“Along with our hotel OWNERS, the Protea Hospitality Group is committed to offering GUESTS the best service and environment, and the extensive programme of refurbishments in hotels across South Africa in the past three years is testament to this. “
